About this Remove Duplicate Lines
Lists collected from emails, spreadsheets and forms almost always contain repeats. This tool removes duplicate lines while keeping the first copy of each one. You can match lines exactly or ignore letter case, trim messy spaces, and sort the cleaned list from A to Z, all in one click.
How to use it
- Paste your list into the top box, one item per line.
- Tick the options you want, such as trim spaces or sort.
- Press Remove duplicates.
- Copy the cleaned list from the bottom box.
Example
A 10-line list where apple appears 3 times comes out as 8 unique lines, with 2 duplicates removed.
Frequently asked questions
Does it keep the order of my list?
Yes, unless you tick Sort A-Z. The first copy of each line is kept in its original place.
What does case-sensitive mean?
With it off, Apple and apple count as the same line. With it on, they are treated as different lines.
Are blank lines removed?
Repeated blank lines collapse to one. Use the extra spaces tool if you need every blank line gone.
