๐Ÿ”ค Acronym Generator

Turn any phrase into an acronym, with a letter-by-letter breakdown of where it came from.

About this Acronym Generator

An acronym squeezes a long phrase into its initial letters โ€” NASA, ASAP, FAQ. This generator builds one from any phrase you type and shows a letter-by-letter breakdown so you can see exactly which word each letter came from. You can also skip small joining words like 'the' and 'of', which is how most real-world acronyms are formed.

How to use it

  1. Type the full phrase, project name or organisation name.
  2. Tick Skip small words if you want a shorter, punchier acronym.
  3. Click Generate acronym.
  4. Review the acronym and its breakdown, and tweak the phrase until it clicks.

Example

'National Aeronautics and Space Administration' with small words skipped gives NASA โ€” N from National, A from Aeronautics, S from Space, A from Administration.

Frequently asked questions

What if my acronym spells something awkward?

Try rewording the phrase, reordering the words, or toggling the small-words option โ€” one changed word often fixes the result.

Does it work with numbers and mixed words?

Yes. The first letter or digit of each word is used, so '3 Day Workshop' gives 3DW.
