About this Online Timer
This countdown timer takes any number of minutes and seconds, shows the remaining time in big clear digits, and plays a beep when the count reaches zero. Because it measures against your device clock rather than counting screen refreshes, it stays accurate even if you switch to another tab. Use it for cooking, workouts, presentations, exams, games and breaks.
How to use it
- Enter the minutes and seconds you want to count down.
- Press Start to begin the countdown.
- Press Pause to hold the remaining time, Start to resume.
- Press Reset to restore the full time, and wait for the beep at zero.
Example
Set 1 minute and 0 seconds, press Start: the display counts 00:59, 00:58 ... down to 00:00 and then beeps with a Time is up message.
Frequently asked questions
Does the timer keep working in another tab?
Yes. It calculates from your device clock, so the beep still fires on time even if the tab is in the background.
What is the longest countdown I can set?
Up to 999 minutes and 59 seconds, over sixteen hours.
Why did I not hear the beep?
Check your device volume and make sure the browser tab is not muted; some phones block sound until you interact with the page, and pressing Start counts as that interaction.
