๐Ÿ” Palindrome Checker

Check whether a word or sentence reads the same forwards and backwards.

About this Palindrome Checker

A palindrome reads the same in both directions, like 'racecar' or the famous sentence 'A man, a plan, a canal: Panama'. This checker ignores capital letters, spaces and punctuation, so whole sentences are judged fairly. It is handy for word games, puzzles, coding practice and classroom fun.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste a word, name or full sentence.
  2. Click Check palindrome.
  3. The tool strips out spaces and punctuation, then compares the text with its reverse.
  4. Try editing the text until it passes.

Example

'Was it a car or a cat I saw?' cleans down to 'wasitacaroracatisaw', which is identical backwards โ€” a true palindrome.

Frequently asked questions

Why does it ignore spaces and punctuation?

Classic palindromes are judged on letters only. Removing spaces, capitals and marks like commas is the standard way to check sentences.

Do numbers count?

Yes, digits are kept, so '12321' and dates like '12/02/2021' in digit form can be checked too.
