0๏ธโƒฃ Text to Binary Converter

Convert text to binary code (0s and 1s) and decode binary back to readable text.

About this Text to Binary Converter

Computers store every letter as a number, and every number as binary โ€” a string of 0s and 1s. This converter turns your text into UTF-8 bytes shown as 8-bit binary groups, and decodes binary back into readable text. It is a fun, hands-on way to see how encoding works under the hood.

How to use it

  1. Type plain text and click Text โ†’ Binary to encode it.
  2. Or paste binary code (spaces optional) and click Binary โ†’ Text to decode it.
  3. Read the result in the box below.
  4. Copy the result to share a secret message with a friend.

Example

The word 'Hi' becomes 01001000 01101001 โ€” H is byte 72 and i is byte 105 in UTF-8.

Frequently asked questions

Why does one letter sometimes make several binary groups?

Characters outside plain English, like emoji or accented letters, take 2โ€“4 UTF-8 bytes each, so they produce several 8-bit groups.

Do the spaces between groups matter?

No. The decoder ignores spaces and line breaks and simply reads the 0s and 1s in order, eight at a time.
