๐Ÿ• Timestamp Converter

Convert Unix timestamps to readable dates and dates back to timestamps.

About this Timestamp Converter

A Unix timestamp counts the seconds since 1 January 1970 (UTC) and is how computers, databases and APIs store dates. This converter works both ways: turn a timestamp into a readable local and UTC date, or turn any date and time into its timestamp. A third button shows the current timestamp, updating whenever you press it.

How to use it

  1. Enter a timestamp in seconds and press Timestamp to Date, or
  2. pick a date and time and press Date to Timestamp.
  3. Use Current Timestamp to see the timestamp for right now.
  4. Results show local time, UTC time and ISO format.

Example

Timestamp 1700000000 converts to 14 Nov 2023, 22:13:20 UTC.

Frequently asked questions

Is the timestamp in seconds or milliseconds?

This tool uses seconds, the standard Unix format. JavaScript millisecond values are 1000 times larger - divide them by 1000 first.

Why do I see two different times?

Local time uses your device time zone, while UTC is the universal reference. The moment itself is the same.

When did Unix time start?

At midnight on 1 January 1970 UTC, known as the Unix epoch.
