About this Discount Calculator

The discount calculator tells you the real price you pay after a percentage discount, and exactly how much you save. If a shop adds tax after the discount, enter that rate too and the tool applies it in the correct order, discount first and tax second, just like a real bill at checkout.

How to use it

1. Enter the original price.
2. Enter the discount percentage, and a tax percentage if any.
3. Click Calculate for the final price and your savings.

Example

An item priced at Rs 2,000 with 25% off costs Rs 1,500, so you save Rs 500. Add 10% tax after the discount and the final total is Rs 1,650.

Frequently asked questions

Is tax applied before or after a discount?

In most stores, tax is charged on the discounted price, which is what this calculator does. The discount reduces the taxable amount first.

How do I find the percentage saved?

The saving divided by the original price, times 100, equals the discount percentage. Here the saving is shown in money so you can compare offers directly.

Can I stack two discounts?

Two discounts do not simply add up. Apply the first discount here, then run the result through again with the second percentage.
