About this Tip Calculator

The tip calculator works out a fair tip on any bill and splits the full amount evenly between any number of people. It shows the tip itself, the grand total, and exactly what each person should pay, so splitting a restaurant bill with friends takes seconds and nobody overpays or underpays.

How to use it

Example

A bill of Rs 1,200 with a 15% tip split between 4 people: the tip is Rs 180, the total is Rs 1,380, and each person pays Rs 345 (Rs 45 of tip each).

What is a standard tip percentage?

Around 10 to 15% is common for table service in many countries, 15 to 20% in the United States, and tipping is optional or minimal in some places. Adjust to local custom and service quality.

Is the tip calculated on the full bill?

Yes, this tool applies the percentage to the bill amount you enter. If your bill includes tax and you prefer to tip on the pre-tax amount, enter that amount instead.

How is the per-person amount rounded?

Each share is shown to two decimals. In practice, groups often round each share up slightly so the collected amount fully covers the bill.
