๐Ÿงพ JSON Formatter

Format, minify and validate JSON, with clear error positions and quick structure stats.

About this JSON Formatter

JSON from APIs and config files often arrives as one unreadable line โ€” or arrives broken. This formatter pretty-prints JSON with clean two-space indentation, minifies it back to a single line for production, and validates it with the browser's own strict parser, reporting exactly where a syntax error sits.

How to use it

  1. Paste your JSON into the box.
  2. Click Format to pretty-print it, or Minify to compress it to one line.
  3. Click Validate to check it without changing anything.
  4. Read the stats line for the top-level type, total key count and size.

Example

Formatting {"a":1,"b":[1,2]} spreads it over several indented lines, and the stats report: object type, 2 keys at the top level plus keys inside, ready to read at a glance.

Frequently asked questions

What does the error position mean?

The browser parser reports messages like 'at position 14', counting characters from the start of your text โ€” the mistake is at or just before that character.

Does formatting change my data?

No. Format and Minify only change whitespace. The values, order of keys and structure stay exactly the same.

Is my JSON uploaded anywhere?

No. Parsing uses JavaScript built into your browser, so your data never leaves the page.
