⌨️ Typing Speed Test

A 60-second typing test with live WPM, accuracy and error counts.

Time left: 60s

About this Typing Speed Test

How fast do you really type? This test shows you a fresh paragraph, starts the clock on your first keystroke, and gives you up to 60 seconds — or until you finish the text. It scores your speed in words per minute the standard way, plus accuracy and a full error count, all live in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Read the paragraph shown at the top.
  2. Click the typing box and start typing it exactly — the timer starts automatically.
  3. Finish the paragraph or run the clock down to zero.
  4. Read your WPM, accuracy and errors, then restart for a new paragraph.

Example

Typing 250 correct characters in exactly one minute scores 50 WPM, because speed is counted as correct characters divided by 5, per minute.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good typing speed?

Around 40 WPM is average for adults, 60–80 WPM is fast, and trained typists pass 100 WPM. Accuracy above 95% matters more than raw speed.

Why divide characters by 5?

The standard 'word' in typing tests is defined as 5 characters including spaces. It keeps scores comparable between different texts and tests.

Does backspacing hurt my score?

Fixing mistakes costs time but improves accuracy. The score only counts characters that match the sample when the test ends.
