๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Budget Planner

Plan a monthly budget: income against up to six expense lines, with savings and savings rate.

About this Budget Planner

This budget planner lays your monthly income against up to six named expense lines and instantly shows your total spending, what is left as savings, the savings rate, and each expense as a share of income. Seeing the shares is the trick: the biggest slice is where a small cut frees the most money. It works just as well for a household budget as for a small shop monthly budget.

How to use it

  1. Enter your total monthly income.
  2. Name your main expenses โ€” rent, food, bills, transport and so on โ€” and put a realistic amount for each.
  3. Click Build my budget.
  4. Read the savings figure and the percentage shares, then adjust the biggest lines until the savings rate suits you.

Example

On an income of 150,000 with expenses of 45,000 rent, 30,000 food, 12,000 bills, 8,000 transport and 5,000 shopping, total spending is 100,000, leaving savings of 50,000 โ€” a 33.3% savings rate.

Frequently asked questions

What savings rate should I aim for?

A popular guide is the 50/30/20 rule: about 50% of income on needs, 30% on wants and 20% saved. Treat it as a direction, not a rule โ€” any consistent saving beats none.

Should I include irregular costs like annual fees?

Yes โ€” divide yearly costs by 12 and add them as a monthly line (school fees, insurance, vehicle tax). Budgets fail most often on costs that only appear a few times a year.
