👥 Random Team Generator
Split a list of names into fair random teams for games, sports and classrooms.
About this Random Team Generator
No more captains picking favorites. Paste a list of players, choose how many teams you want, and this generator shuffles everyone and deals them out evenly — team sizes differ by at most one player. Perfect for football at the park, classroom group work and party games.
How to use it
- Paste the names, one per line or separated by commas.
- Set the number of teams.
- Click Make teams.
- Click again to re-shuffle if anyone objects.
Example
Twelve names with 3 teams gives three balanced teams of 4, dealt in random order — no two runs produce the same squads.
Frequently asked questions
Are the teams balanced in size?
Yes. Names are dealt one by one to each team in turn, so sizes never differ by more than one player.
Can I separate names with commas instead of lines?
Yes — commas, line breaks or a mix of both all work; extra spaces are trimmed automatically.
