🎯 Savings Goal Calculator

Find the monthly saving needed to reach a target amount in your chosen years and return.

About this Savings Goal Calculator

This savings goal calculator works backwards from your target: tell it the amount you want, the years you have and the return your savings earn, and it gives the exact monthly deposit that lands on the goal — the maths behind a SIP or monthly savings plan. It also splits the final amount into what you deposit yourself and what growth contributes, which shows how much of the heavy lifting your money does for you over longer periods.

How to use it

  1. Enter the target amount — a car, a house deposit, a wedding, a business fund.
  2. Enter how many years you have to reach it.
  3. Enter the yearly return you realistically expect from where you will keep the savings (use 0 for cash).
  4. Click Calculate to see the monthly saving, your total deposits and the growth portion.

Example

To reach 1,000,000 in 5 years at a 10% yearly return, you need to save about 12,913 a month; your deposits total roughly 774,800 and growth adds the other 225,200.

Frequently asked questions

What return should I assume?

Use what your chosen savings vehicle realistically pays after tax: near 0% for cash, the deposit rate for bank accounts, and a cautious long-term average for investment funds. Lower, honest estimates make safer plans.

Why does starting earlier help so much?

Growth compounds: money saved in year one earns returns for the whole period. Doubling the years much more than halves the monthly saving needed.
